The MagiciansThe Magicians by Lev Grossman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is weird.
It's about a tween Harry Potter – well, he is not a hero, just the main character of the book – navigating between unhappy and depressed, learning magic at a secret college for magicians before going to Narnia (which he is obsessed with since he is a little kid). And it's for adults. And I asked myself through most of the book were it was going...

And still, it's one of the best books I've read this year and the only one who made me think about my choices, my life, my goals. It's crazy like that. There is magic but it's not about magic, at all. It's a book I already want to read again. See what I missed the first time. It didn't feel like a fantasy book. Not really. It's something else. Something else that's amazing.

Quentin is an asshole but one I really love. He is waiting for his life, his destiny, to start and always thinks the fates are shortchanging him in someway. The guy gets everything he wants and then some, and it's never good enough. Always waiting for his “real” life to begin. I hope he find some contentment (I'm not sure happiness is something he can achieve XD) in The Magician King. That would be a nice change... but probably a disturbing one. I really want to see more of Eliot and Janet in the next book. None of the magicians really knows what real life is, but this three maybe more than the others.
